Ceramics have been in my life long before I started creating my own. There’s something about holding a cup and being able to see the fingerprints of the maker that turns a functional item into a personal link to those that have touched that item before us.

SARAH RITCHIE

is an independent artist residing in Mohkinstsis, Alberta. After completing her BSc in Archaeology, ceramics came as an unanticipated divergence from the path. From Hands of SJR is the outcome of a drive to continue pursuing creative outlets incorporating natural and historical themes with the flexibility to grow in varying directions.

Sarah’s work is influenced heavily by a life-long admiration and respect for the less appreciated taxa around us and will enthusiastically catch by goers with anecdotes about her experience with maternity bat colonies, trials in self-taught taxidermy, fine green teas, Byzantine pottery, and most any ology.
